Another CNN iReport

I recently wrote my first iReport for CNN. It was a lot of fun to see my views start climbing in numbers every day.(Its currently at 1124views! That’s crazy!) And it was on pinterest my absolutely favorite past time! So what a great experience. It recently got featured on CNN.com as well! And after my confirmation email it prompted me to write another! On what beauty means to you. I took it in my recent post pregnancy view. I love what came out of the 9 month wait. But was that ever a roller coaster love/hate relationship with my body. And I’m still involved in that. If you want to read more you can click the link!

Or maybe you want to get involved too! You can sign up and write iReports yourself!

Date Night

So I lied. Last night we did do a date night! My mother-in-law was in town and we decided to take advantage (I mean let him have quality time with his GB) and do a little date night. We even had a coupon to our favorite hole-in-the-wall Italian place. We had dropped the kid off and gotten to the restaurant before realizing that coupon was still on the counter! But we went anyways. We even dressed up, I wore my 6 inch heels and everything. And even though its V-day and we’re holding hands the hostess still asked if we were a couple. Our baby faces never fail us!

After dinner we went on a romantic stroll through Blockbuster. Instead of renting we bought 5 for 20 movies. We watched Crazy, Stupid, Love last night. Turned out to be the perfect date night movie in. And to top the whole night off Sawyer fell asleep at 1030 and slept till 7am! First time ever sleeping through the night! Amaaaaazing. He did fall asleep in his swing and I decided not to move him so we also camped out in the living room and slept on the couch, head to head on the L sectional. And as I write this Sawyer looks like he has the same thing planned for tonight. But there is no way he’s sleeping through the night two nights in a row!

What Im saying is we had a lame V-day

and I wouldnt change it for anything in the world.

( Whatcha doing babe? )

( Nothing just Gosling   😉 )

How Pinteresting

We all know my love for pinterest by now. I spend as much time as possible on there. (Its a bigger time waster than facebook!) I currently have 4233 pins, 29 boards and 154 followers. (I feel so awesome about that last one, I feel like I am winning some pinterest popularity contest haha) Last night I saw that CNN ireport was looking for people to submit what they have actually done from pinterest. Basically, is pinterest actually inspiring projects or is it just a waste of time. I started pulling my projects off and comparing them with my own that I had completed. I now need to go back through every pin and do this. Ive found 27 so far that Ive accomplished. A couple more that I am actually in the middle of! I think its awesome seeing them side by side. Makes me feel more inspired to get more done. That was my new years resolution wasn’t it? So check out my report here.

And remember to message me if you want an invite as pinterest is currently invite only (lissables@gmail.com)

Here’s a couple more I couldn’t add to the report since they will only allow you 10 photos per report.

Keep on pinning and if you want to follow me Im RIGHT HERE

February

All new years resolutions are supposed to fail correct? Because I did say I was going to write more. And then look at this its been a month to the day since the last post. And my project life is still not caught up and its only month 1. I dont even remember the other ones! So lets revisit January!

My best friend got married! So excited. We flew out to Houston for the week. For prewedding fun. And the big day came way too fast! We had so much fun out there. It was Sawyers first time on a plane, Grandma came along to help. Daddy flew out for the weekend to film it. (amazing memento) So happy for them!

O ya and I made the cupcakes too! Carrot cake and cream cheese and yellow cake with purple buttercream. YUM! Cake, a beautiful outdoor wedding and my best friends. It was so perfect! Although I will never be a bridesmaid, have my 3 month old with me and bake the wedding cakes again! All three shouldnt go together!

Sawyer grew another month so that means I now have 3000 instead of 2000 pictures. Here’s my favorite from month 3!

We decided to revamp our living room. So much fun and we did it all ourselves! Ive decided since I painted the orange wall so well I can now go ahead and paint every room in my house. Brandon says no though. (But I see the kitchen changing color soon too! And the bedroom? haha) Brandon has been wanting to get a projector forever, but I was hesitant. But when he found the perfect ottoman and chair I said lets do it! I also got my floating shelves finally! (if you love the look of floating shelves and hate putting them up, head to Lowes because these were awesome! So easy!) This is the first of my home revamp idea’s. Hopefully I am inspired to keep going and keep blogging about it too!

(I promise, because Im pre writing them now! Stay tuned for project life stuff and other crafty crafts!)

Aviator Hats

So a couple days before our road trip home I bought some crochet patterns from Inner Hooker. I was all excited, But I’ve done this before. This time thought I actually sat down and went through a whole online Crochet school at CraftyMinx. So on our second day of 10 hour driving, I brought out the yarn and by the time we hit the border I had finished Sawyers Aviator Bomber Hat. Needless to say I was excited I had actually managed to make it. My other crochet experiments have always failed. But this was a new start.

So I thought about it (for about 5 seconds) and decided I had to make all the boys hats. We are all together only once a year so when else are you gonna get a chance like that. It took all week and I ended up with one for me when I accidentally strayed from the pattern late at night and made one WAY too big. I love them. I love that we got a picture of them all together.

I also bought the Owl and Monkey ear patterns. Im excited to try them too. And I will post them when I get around to it!

Here We Go

I said that title in my head with the Mario 64 voice as I wrote it. And then I sang “Here we go again on our own” (my graduation song.) And now I’m just thinking how many ways that title applies to my life.

Here we go: Another year. Goodbye 2011 Hello 2012

Here we go: I am leaving in less than a week for my best friends wedding next weekend. After only getting home last night!

Here we go: Setting goals about this year, will we actually follow them?

Here we go: My baby’s first year! A whole year of firsts ahead of us, very exciting.

And lastly Here we go: I’m going to do it this year. I am going to do project life. I have watched Ali Edwards create an amazing document of their life this last year and I want it too. I ordered it last night, missed the collection I wanted by minutes, MINUTES! Ugh and I was going to order it the night before. That kills me. But whatever. I am still excited to do this. I CAN DO THIS! I cant wait to share it with you too. If you are curious about Project Life check out the link. Maybe you want to do it too! I ordered the Clementine kit. (I wanted the Turquoise but its sold out. If it comes back I will still get it though, just in case.) Google Project life for more inspiration, or better yet Pinterest it!

O ya one last Here we go. Its one of my resolutions to blog more again. So Here we go with the first post of the new year! Here’s a couple highlights of the holidays!

It was a great first Christmas with Sawyer and were really looking forward to this new year. Make you you keep following us!

We’re Still Here

Ouch 3 posts in all of November. Thats pretty bad. But the blog suffers when real life is flourishing! And is it ever. The little man is 8 weeks old! passing milestones all the time. My favorite would be that the smiles are out and in full effect now! Im so lucky to have the cutest, happiest, good baby ever. And although we had some rough weeks, a few adjustments to his daily life has brought my sweet baby back.

There is definitely a difference in our life. Yes we get no sleep, and our kitchen is litered with bottles, formula and the occasional dirty diaper. But we are also completely taken with this new little life. Even his little pouty lip is beyond adorable to us.

And now it’s December (again, where has the time gone!) And by all miracle’s somehow we are already done all the Christmas shopping and getting ready for our first trip home! We’ve already visited Santa, TWICE! Seen it snow in Las Vegas! Decorated and wrapped all the presents under the tree. And its just the beginning of the holidays! We have so much more fun coming up! So maybe I can update this a bit more this month. Otherwise you’ll know Im snuggling this little guy!

We Remember

On this day as I cuddle with a new life, we pause to remember those who have fallen to give us peace and freedom.

In flanders fields the poppies blow,
between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place and in the sky,
The larks still bravely singing, fly
scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago,
we lived, felt dawn, saw sunsets glow,
Loved and were loved. And now we lie,
In flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe,
to you from failing hands we throw,
the torch, be yours to hold it high,
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow,
In flanders fields.

Thank you to all our soldiers past and present.

Surviving The first Month

Its been one month, 4 weeks, 28 days. Where did that time go. I must really be behind on sleep because it feels like a blur. How could it go by that fast already. And yes there is not a lot of sleep going on these days. I keep getting asked if Sawyer has his nights and days mixed up. I fear he has no concept of either. Because on the days he’s up all day I think, good he’ll sleep tonight, but nope! And then even odder on the days he sleeps all day, he sleeps the best through the night! So needless to say I have finally learned to have naps in the middle of the day. And I have also learned my husband can sleep through ear piercing screaming. It really is a talent.

But its not all bad. There is the snuggles, smiles and lots of picture opportunities! I find myself attached to my camera (who didnt see that coming!) hoping not to miss a moment. Im sure my facebook friends are tired of seeing my Sawyer album constantly on top and being updated daily. But this girl doesnt care. He’s too cute in my eyes not to share!

So as Im sure I’ll say about the next month, the next year, the next life time, this has gone way too fast. And yes its been a change, but a change for the better. Im looking forward to all that the coming weeks of milestones and changes. Especially the sleeping through the night stage! But the giggle stage just as much! And Im sure to have my camera through it all.

Footprint Ghosts and Handprint Pumpkins

If you have little ones they are going to love today’s post. (Beware its a messy one!) A chance to paint…with their feet! I think what I love the most about this is you could make it a yearly tradition and watch the little ghosts grow! What a great reminder of how little the once were. Use some thick white paint. You want it to show up with one print. It would be hard to line them up for a second coat. Paint your child foot and roll onto black craft paper. Making sure the toes are on the bottom, add a mouth with some black marker and some googly eyes and you have your own personal ghost!

You can do a similar craft with their hands as well. Paint your round orange pumpkin, and add the stem, then paint your kids hands green and let them make the leaves with them. Lots of fun for kids! After all its Halloween its supposed to be all about the kids!
